Day 226: Living Without TV

Day 226: Living Without TV
I’m living with out TV.

The EPA estimates, “that Americans spend nearly $8 billion per year in energy costs to run their television sets.”

Besides saving the money on energy, I’ll also reduce my energy consumption by about 1,000 kilowatt hours per year.

What was your simple green act for the day?

No joke, I thought I was the only one who gave up TV! We have a TV connected to a DVD player and only watch movies on occasion... Awesome to know we are not the only "crazy" people out there!
  • Mike Lieberman
In the past 3 years the only time that I watched was when I was bored at my Grandmother's and I'd flip on the Food Network. Can't believe how much time I used to spend in front of the TV.
  • We live without TV too. No cable, and I haven't had a TV for years. My husband does, but it stays in the basement and is used once a week for a movie night. TV sucks up so much of your life. Makes the kids act up too.
  • Mike Lieberman
Really just use it for movies as well and not that often.
  • Stephanie
Although I still have a TV, I haven't plugged it in in ages. There's so many other fun things to do besides watching TV!
  • Mike Lieberman
Absolutely. The show made me stop watching TV was "Rock of Love".
