Day 350: Bought Local Produce Instead of Transported

Day 350: Bought Local Produce Instead of Transported
I bought strawberries that were grown local instead of ones that were shipped from another country.

By buying local, the amount of food miles that the food travels and the energy that goes into that transport is reduced.

  • This is one of my regular practices. Though in Canada, that does put some frustrating limits on my fruit choices at times. I wish produce was marked more specifically, than just "Canada". Buying something from the USA can be much closer than something at the other end of Canada.
  • It's amazing how much local produce isn't sold locally.
