Day 145: Bought Local Apples From Farmers Market

Sticking to my New Year’s Resolutions, I bought some local uncertified organic apples from the Farmers Market.

One benefit of eating locally is that it reduces the amount of transportation of the food. On average, food travels 1,500 from farm to table. This cuts that number down drastically.

For more information on eating locally, check out this article from FoodReference. It also talks about how it affects the local economy as well.

What was your simple green act for the day?

The 'green' thing I do at the grocery store is shopping in the dumpster behind the store!
