Day 118: Put Filled Bottle of Water In Toilet Tank

Day 118: Put Filled Bottle of Water In Toilet Tank

I put a filled bottle of water in my toilet tank.

According to the EPA, this is one way to conserve water in your bathroom.

I’m not sure when my toilet was made, but in 1995 the National Energy Policy Act (H.R. 776) went into effect and mandated 1.6 toilets for the entire U.S. (Courtesy of Toiletology)

What was your simple green act for the day?

  • I've done this for years, it works. A half gallon plastic milk jug fits great! Love these sorts of ideas.
  • Mike Lieberman
Wow. What size tank do you have that a half gallon fits in there?
  • Normal size tank, looks like yours. The 1/2 gal plastic milk jugs aren't
that much wider than the bottle in your pic... just more square in shape.
  • natallya
    hey, i'll make this.
  • Mike Lieberman
C'mon Natallya I thought you'd have this done already!
  • natallya
    :P i never thought it.
