Day Two: Turned Off Grandmother’s Sprinkler

Day Two: Turned Off My Grandmother's Sprinkler

Upon arriving at my Grandmother’s, I turned off her sprinkler, which she usually runs for hours on end.

She’s 90 years-old, so I took it easier on her and yes I still watered her plants (at the roots).

Did you know that, “A single lawn sprinkler can use as much as 600 gallons of water per hour.” Courtesy of Ohio Department of Natural Resources.

What was your simple green act for the day?

Mike, I recommend that you water your grandmother´s plants at night, after the sun has gone down and the soil's heat has dissipated. Thus, you will use less water, the plants will stay wet longer and the water will take a long time to evaporate. See you.
  • Thanks Karina. I agree, but my Grandmother is 91 years old and I ain't changin her way ;-)
