Day 217: Programmed Thermostat
I programmed the thermostat at my parents place to lower by 10 degrees at night and increase during the day to two degrees lower than what they had it set at.
According to Daily Green Ideas, “By turning down your thermostat just 2 degrees you can save around 5% on your energy bill each month and will cut down your CO2 emissions by about 500 to 600 pounds per year.”
By “turning down the thermostat 5 to 10 degrees at night, and then turn it up again in the morning when the coffee is brewing. If you can get used to that, you’ll save 5 to 10 percent of your heating bill,” according to Care2.
What was your simple green act for the day?
