Day 165: Turned Heat Down 10 Degrees Before Sleeping
Before heading to bed, I turned the thermostat down 10 degrees. This was in addition to the two degrees that it was lowered the other day.
Shutting the heat off all together would be best, but got overruled. I’m getting used to having a thermostat since I don’t have one in my apartment.
According to Daily Green Ideas, “By turning down your thermostat just 2 degrees you can save around 5% on your energy bill each month and will cut down your CO2 emissions by about 500 to 600 pounds per year.”
By “turning down the thermostat 5 to 10 degrees at night, and then turn it up again in the morning when the coffee is brewing. If you can get used to that, you’ll save 5 to 10 percent of your heating bill,” according to Care2.
What was your simple green act for the day?
